Shamian Island, located on the north bank of the Pearl River, was once the British and French concession in the 19th century. Sacred Heart Cathedral (Stone House Cathedral)
The Sacred Heart Cathedral, also known as the Stone House Cathedral, is one of Guangzhou’s most famous landmarks. Built between 1863 and 1888, this grand Catholic church showcases classic Gothic architecture with twin spires and magnificent stained-glass windows. Chen Clan Ancestral Hall (Chen Clan Academy)
The Chen Clan Ancestral Hall, now the Guangdong Folk Art Museum, is a masterpiece of traditional Lingnan architecture. Constructed during the Qing Dynasty by members of the Chen family from 72 counties in Guangdong, it is celebrated for its intricate decorations, including wood carvings, stone carvings, brick carvings, ceramics, and plaster sculptures. Known as a “pearl of Lingnan architecture,” the hall offers visitors a rich insight into Guangdong’s artistry, craftsmanship, and cultural traditions.
Haixin Bridge
Haixin Bridge is a modern landmark spanning the Pearl River, connecting Zhujiang New Town with Haixinsha Island. Canton Tower (Xiaomanyao)
The Canton Tower, nicknamed “Xiaomanyao” (the slender waist), is Guangzhou’s most iconic skyscraper. Rising 600 meters, it is the second tallest TV tower in the world. Besides broadcasting functions, it offers observation decks, restaurants, and entertainment facilities. Visitors can ride the high-speed elevator to the 433-meter “Star Observation Deck,” where sweeping views of the entire city unfold beneath them. Chengdu Panda Base

Mount Emei
Dujiangyan
Located in the western part of Chengdu Plain, in the city of Dujiangyan, Sichuan Province, this ancient water conservancy project sits on the Minjiang River. It was originally constructed during the late Qin Dynasty under the command of Governor Li Bing and his son, who built it based on earlier works by the legendary figure Bie Ling. The Dujiangyan system, which includes the Fish Mouth, Flying Sand Weir, and Baopingkou, is the world’s oldest and largest water engineering project still in use today. Notably, it is unique for its ability to divert water without the use of dams.This marvel of ancient Chinese engineering represents the diligence, bravery, and wisdom of the country’s ancient laborers. It is a testament to the ingenuity that continues to shape modern China.
Mount Qingcheng
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, a National 5A Tourist Attraction, and the global headquarters of Taoism, Mount Qingcheng is one of China’s Four Great Taoist Mountains and one of the Five Great Immortal Mountains. It is also one of the birthplaces of Taoism in China. The mountain is divided into the Front Mountain and the Rear Mountain, both of which are covered in lush greenery and remain verdant throughout the year. Surrounded by numerous peaks that resemble city walls, it is aptly named Qingcheng, meaning “Green City Mountain.”The mountain features thousands of steps and winding paths, offering an atmosphere of serenity and purity. With peaks encircling the area and dense, verdant forests, Mount Qingcheng is renowned for its tranquil beauty and is often described as “the most peaceful place under heaven.”
Kuanzhai Alley
Kuanzhai Alley is a renowned historical and cultural district in Chengdu, preserving the charm of Qing Dynasty architecture. It consists of three parallel alleys—Wide Alley, Narrow Alley, and Jing Alley—each offering a unique blend of history, local life, and modern attractions. Visitors can explore traditional courtyards, sip authentic Sichuan tea in historic teahouses, and enjoy local delicacies.
