6-Day Itinerary

+ Day 1: Arrival in Lhasa – Airport Pickup & Hotel Check-in

★ Arrive in Lhasa, where a private guide and driver will greet you at the airport. After dinner, check into your hotel or explore at your leisure.
★ Recommended Spot: Barkhor Street
In Tibetan, "Barkhor" means "middle circumambulation route." Also known as "Bajiao Street," it is located in Lhasa's Chengguan District. This bustling street serves as a significant pilgrimage circuit and commercial hub, preserving the ancient city's traditional architecture and way of life. Originally, the street was solely a kora (pilgrimage path) around Jokhang Temple, referred to by Tibetans as the "Sacred Path."

+ Day 2: Lhasa – Potala Palace – Jokhang Temple

★ After breakfast, visit Zaki Temple, located on Zaki Road in northern Lhasa. It is Tibet’s only wealth god temple, small in size but with a thriving pilgrimage culture.
★ Then, drive to the city center and visit Potala Palace, the winter palace of successive Dalai Lamas and the former religious and political center of Tibet. Since the 5th Dalai Lama, it has been the site of major religious and political ceremonies and houses the stupas of past Dalai Lamas.
★ After lunch, explore Jokhang Temple, which boasts over 1,300 years of history and holds supreme significance in Tibetan Buddhism. Inside, it enshrines a life-sized statue of Sakyamuni Buddha at the age of 12, brought from Chang’an (modern-day Xi’an) by Princess Wencheng of the Tang Dynasty.
★ Afterward, stroll along Barkhor Street, following the pilgrims as they perform kora, immersing yourself in the rich Buddhist culture and spiritual devotion.
★ In the evening, dine at a traditional Tibetan restaurant, enjoying local dishes, sweet tea, and yogurt.

+ Day 3: Lhasa – Gamba La Mountain – Yamdrok Lake – Karola Glacier – Shigatse

★ Begin the journey toward Shigatse on well-paved roads with time-regulated driving.
★ Cross Gamba La Mountain (4,990m) and catch a distant view of the Gamba La Radar Station.
★ Continue to Yamdrok Lake, one of Tibet’s three sacred lakes, situated at an altitude of 4,441m. The lake stretches 250km along its shores and spans an area of 638km². Known as the "Jade Lake" in Tibetan, it features stunning turquoise waters and is a filming location for the movie Red River Valley. The scenic drive provides breathtaking views.
★ Stop at Karola Glacier, known as the "Sleeping Ice Beauty." This massive, crystal-clear glacier appears like a masterpiece carved by time, offering a mesmerizing spectacle.

+ Day 4: Shigatse – Gawula Pass – Mount Everest Nature Reserve (Basong Village)

+ Day 5: Mount Everest Nature Reserve – Gyatso La Pass – Tashilhunpo Monastery – Lhasa

★ After breakfast, depart from the Everest Nature Reserve and return to Shigatse.
★ Visit Tashilhunpo Monastery, the traditional residence of the Panchen Lamas. Founded in 1447, this Gelugpa monastery is one of the six great temples of Tibetan Buddhism. Inside, find centuries-old incense-filled halls, flickering butter lamps, and the majestic 30m-high Maitreya Buddha Hall, as well as the sacred Panchen Lama Stupa Hall.
★ Travel back to Lhasa, passing through Lazi, meaning "The Golden Peak Illuminated by the First Light," and enjoying scenic views of Sangsang Grassland with vast prairies, grazing yaks, and mysterious snow-capped peaks in the distance.

    Jokhang Temple

Built over 1,300 years ago, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is home to a revered statue of Jowo Shakyamuni, believed to be the most sacred image of Buddha in Tibet.     Shigatse

      • 5 nights in a four-star international hotel, with double occupancy (two guests per room).

      • To maintain the quality of the trip, extra beds and triple rooms are not available. Guests traveling alone must pay a single occupancy supplement.

      • If the selected hotels are fully booked, a similar standard hotel will be arranged.

    • Additional Attraction Fees

      • Any entrance fees not explicitly mentioned, such as secondary entrance tickets, sightseeing buses, electric carts, cable cars, and equipment rentals within scenic areas, are at the traveler’s own expense.

    • Meals

      • 5 breakfasts and 8 main meals, with a standard of 50 RMB per person per meal.

      • No meals are provided on airport/train station pick-up and drop-off days.

    • Single Occupancy & Extra Hotel Costs

      • No single rooms are provided. If a single traveler requires their own room or an extra bed, the additional cost is the guest’s responsibility.

    Safety Guidelines

    Important Notices for Foreign Travelers to Tibet

    1. Tibet Travel Permit (TTP) Requirement:

      • The original TTP must be presented along with the traveler's passport and visa when boarding a flight or train to Tibet.

    2. Group Travel Permit Shipping:

      • If traveling in a group, each foreign traveler will receive their own separate TTP. Shipping costs are paid individually.

    3. Designated Hotels:

      • Foreign travelers must stay in designated 4-star hotels or approved foreign-friendly hotels.

    4. No Mixed Groups with Chinese Citizens:

      • Foreign travelers cannot join tour groups with Chinese nationals.

    5. Mandatory Guide Requirement:

      • Foreign travelers must be accompanied by a licensed guide at all times. Independent travel is not allowed.

    6. Approved Vehicles Only:

      • All tour vehicles must be officially registered and licensed.

    7. Permit Application Timeline:

      • The Tibet Travel Permit application requires at least 20 days for approval.

      • Expedited processing may be available upon request (extra fees apply).

    8. Fixed Itinerary Policy:

      • No itinerary changes are allowed for foreign travelers once the trip has been approved.

    9. Guide Selection:

      • Travelers may choose guides based on their preferences (e.g., Malaysian, Chinese, or other language-speaking guides).

      • Special language guides require separate inquiries and additional costs.

    Restricted Areas for Foreign Travelers

    Foreign travelers are not allowed to enter the following regions:

    • Nyingchi Prefecture: Yarlung Tsangpo Grand Canyon, Nanyi Valley, Motuo, and all border areas.

    • Shannan Prefecture: Lake Lhamo Latso and all border areas.

    • Shigatse Prefecture: All border areas except Gyirong and Nyalam (Zhangmu).

    • Ngari Prefecture: Pangong Lake and all border areas.

    • All International Border Areas: Any location along the national border is strictly off-limits to foreign travelers.

    Change & Cancellation Policies

    • If the cancellation request is submitted before 00:00, 10 days prior to departure, no cancellation fee will be charged.
    • If the cancellation request is submitted before 00:00, 7 days prior to departure, a 10% fee will be charged.
    • If the cancellation request is submitted before 00:00, 5 days prior to departure, a 30% fee will be charged.
    • If the cancellation request is submitted before 00:00, 3 days prior to departure, a 100% fee will be charged.
    • If a discount is applied, the fee will be calculated as a proportion of the pre-discount price. It will not exceed the amount actually paid.
