Leshan Giant Buddha
Taking a boat ride to view the Giant Buddha, the boat glides along the Min River, with verdant mountains on both sides, shaded by lush green trees, offering breathtaking natural scenery. However, the most striking sight is the majestic Leshan Giant Buddha, towering silently beside Lingyun Mountain, like a kind elder watching over the peace and tranquility of the land. As the boat gradually approaches, every detail of the Buddha becomes clearer. Carved into the mountainside, it is magnificent, with its enormous body seemingly merging with the mountain, showcasing the exceptional wisdom and craftsmanship of ancient artisans. Under the sunlight, the Buddha's facial expressions become even more vivid, as if it is gazing upon the world with compassionate eyes, witnessing the ever-changing tides of time.
Meishan Water Street
Meishan Water Street is renowned for its unique water town charm and enchanting night views. The area features crisscrossing waterways and small bridges over flowing water, making it feel like stepping into a painting of a Jiangnan water town. At night, the streets are illuminated with sparkling lights, their reflections dancing on the water, adding a touch of tenderness and romance. You can take a boat ride to experience the tranquility and softness of the water town, or stroll along the quaint, traditional streets, savoring local delicacies and enjoying a leisurely vacation.
Sansu Temple
The "Temple of the Three Su" is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction and a key cultural heritage site under state protection. This ancient, serene, garden-style temple was the former residence and ancestral hall of Su Xun, Su Shi, and Su Zhe, three famous literary figures of the Northern Song Dynasty.
The temple was originally built during the Northern Song, but most of the existing structures were reconstructed in 1665, during the fourth year of the Kangxi reign in the Qing Dynasty. Stepping into the Temple of the Three Su, you will be captivated by its unique garden scenery. Encircled by red walls and flowing green waters, with ancient trees and dense bamboo creating a picturesque setting, the temple embodies the distinct charm of an island residence with "three parts water and two parts bamboo." The pavilions and terraces are elegantly arranged, offering a dignified and refined atmosphere. The plaques and couplets are full of profound meaning, immersing visitors in a rich cultural ambiance.
Inside, statues of the Three Su, their descendants, and family members are enshrined, along with a portrait of Su Weidao, the patriarch of the Su family in Meishan, and ancestral tablets of past generations. Additionally, other relics of the Su family, such as the Wooden Rockery Hall, ancient wells, the Inkstone Washing Pool, and lychee trees, are well worth exploring in detail.
Dongpo Pork
Dongpo Pork, also known as Braised Pork or Dongpo Stewed Pork, is a traditional dish from Meishan and the Jiangnan region, renowned for its tender texture and rich flavor. The main ingredient is pork with an even balance of fat and lean meat. After meticulous preparation, the finished dish is neatly arranged, with a glistening red color resembling agate. The meat melts in your mouth, offering a rich taste without being greasy.

Chengdu is known for its spicy cuisine, but there are plenty of dishes that are either mild or not spicy at all. For example, you can try the clear soup version of wontons (Long Chao Shou)—the broth is flavorful, with delicate wonton wrappers and generous fillings. Another great choice is Old Mother Pig's Trotters in Soup. It has a rich, fragrant flavor, and the soup is hearty without being greasy. You can also enjoy Sweet Noodles, which have a slight spiciness, but you can ask for less chili if you prefer. Plus, dishes like Boiled Dumplings in Chili Sauce (Zhong Shui Jiao) and Dan Dan Noodles can be made milder on request.
Chengdu has a subtropical humid climate with four distinct seasons. Spring and autumn are mild and pleasant, so lightweight clothes like long-sleeved shirts and light jackets are perfect. In summer, it can get pretty hot, so you'll want to pack summer clothes like shorts, t-shirts, and sandals, along with sunscreen. Winter can be chilly, so be sure to bring warm clothes like a thick coat, sweater, and long pants. The weather can be a bit unpredictable, so it’s also a good idea to carry an umbrella just in case it rains unexpectedly.
