Tour 'Wow' Points
Dujiangyan
Built in 256 BC, Dujiangyan is the world’s oldest and only surviving large-scale irrigation system that diverts water without the use of a dam. For over two millennia, it has played a vital role in flood control and irrigation, turning the Chengdu Plain into the fertile “Land of Abundance.” Recognized as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site, Dujiangyan is also a National 5A Tourist Attraction and a National Scenic Area.
The Dujiangyan Giant-Screen Fluorescent Shadow Play is an officially produced performance that offers a stunning and immersive experience, showcasing the ingenuity of ancient Chinese wisdom and the legacy of traditional culture. Dedicated to promoting both the Dujiangyan Scenic Area and the art of shadow puppetry, the show combines two intangible cultural heritages into one masterpiece. Featuring a massive screen, dark-stage setup, and innovative integration of 3D visuals, fluorescent lighting, and sound effects, the production took two years to complete and brings together top artists to vividly reenact the historical and cultural stories of Dujiangyan, including “Douxi Platform,” “Fulong Temple,” and “Erwang Temple.”
Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding
The Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding is the largest giant panda breeding research institution in the world and the best place to observe these national treasures. The base boasts a beautiful ecological environment with lush greenery, making it a comprehensive attraction that integrates research, education, tourism, and conservation. Here, you can closely observe the adorable antics of giant pandas, from munching on bamboo and climbing trees to rolling around, all of which will bring a smile to your face. In addition to the pandas, the base features a specialized science education area, allowing visitors to learn about their habits and conservation knowledge while enjoying the charming pandas. There's also a special “Panda Encounter” experience, where you can meet the celebrity panda "Hua Hua."
