Frequently Asked Questions

🧾 Booking & Planning

Q1: Do I need to book tours and tickets in advance?

A1: Yes. We strongly recommend booking at least one week in advance, as many popular attractions—such as the Chengdu Giant Panda Base, major museums, and high-speed trains—require advance reservations. During weekends and holidays, availability can be very limited. Booking early helps secure your spots and ensures a smooth, stress-free trip.

Q2: Can you customize the itinerary based on my interests?

A2: Absolutely. We design itineraries based on your interests, pace, budget, and travel style—whether you love pandas, food, history, nature, or unique local experiences.

Q3: Is this a private tour or a group tour?

A3: Most of our services are private or small-group tours, offering flexibility, personal attention, and a more comfortable experience.

📱 Internet, Apps & Communication

Q1: Can I access the internet in China?

A1: Yes. You can use an international roaming plan, an eSIM, or a local SIM card. Many travelers prefer eSIMs for convenience.

Q2: Will my usual apps work in China?

A2: Some apps and websites are restricted. We recommend installing helpful local apps such as WeChat, Alipay, and maps before arrival.

Q3: How can I contact you during the trip?

A3: We provide a dedicated WeChat service group including your guide, driver, and support staff for real-time assistance.

Q4: How can I apply for a SIM card that can be used in China at Chengdu Tianfu International Airport?

A4: You can apply for a SIM card at the "Overseas Visitors Payment Service Center" located in the international arrival hall of Terminal 1 at Chengdu Tianfu International Airport. Simply bring your passport, and you can purchase a SIM card at the China Telecom counter. They offer three options: 7-day, 15-day, and 30-day cards, so you can choose the one that best suits your needs.

💳 Payment, Money & Costs

Q1: How can I exchange currency for RMB when I'm in Chengdu?

A1: The most convenient place to exchange currency is at the foreign currency exchange counters at the airport. At the "Overseas Visitors Payment Service Center" in the international arrival hall of Terminal 1 at Chengdu Tianfu International Airport, you'll find a Ctrip foreign currency exchange counter that offers two-way exchange services for 41 different currencies. They can also provide foreign currency wallets with small-denomination banknotes, as well as RMB wallets. Alternatively, you can visit one of the 18 demonstration bank branches or 40 commercial bank branches located in the Chunxi Road business district, where you can exchange foreign currency for RMB. Q2: Can I use cash or credit cards in China?

A2: Cash is accepted but less common. Mobile payments like Alipay and WeChat Pay are widely used and can now be linked to international credit cards.

Q3: How much should I budget per day?

A3: Daily costs vary by travel style. Chengdu is generally affordable compared to major Western cities. We can provide cost estimates in advance.

Q4: Is tipping required in China?

A4: Tipping is not mandatory, but it is appreciated for excellent service, especially for private guides and drivers.

🌦️ Weather & Packing

Q: What’s the weather like in Chengdu? What kind of clothes should I pack?

A: Our customer service team will provide personalized packing suggestions based on your travel dates and destinations before your trip. In general, we recommend comfortable walking shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, a power bank, and travel adapters.

🐼 Attractions & Experiences

Q1: In Chengdu, which scenic spots require advance ticket reservations? Can I still purchase tickets on-site if I don't book tickets in advance?

A1: In Chengdu, many popular scenic spots, especially during peak tourist seasons or holidays, require reservations through official websites or third-party platforms (such as Meituan, Ctrip, WeChat mini-programs, etc.). For example, famous attractions like the Giant Panda Base, Sanxingdui, Jiuzhaigou, Huanglong, Mount Emei, and the Leshan Giant Buddha often implement visitor caps during busy periods. If you book a tour through a travel agency, they will typically make the reservation for you in advance, so planning and booking your itinerary ahead of time is recommended.

If you haven't reserved tickets in advance, you can still try purchasing them at the ticket counter at the scenic spot, but this largely depends on the number of visitors that day. During peak periods (such as holidays or busy seasons), ticket sales may be temporarily suspended due to capacity limits. Therefore, to avoid any delays in your plans, booking tickets in advance is highly recommended.

Q2: When is the best time to see pandas?

A2: Morning visits (8:00–10:30 am) are best, as pandas are most active during feeding time.

Q3: Can I avoid crowded tourist spots?

A3: Yes. If avoiding crowds is important to you, please let us know in advance. We will do our best to adjust the schedule, choose less-crowded time slots, or include alternative local sites whenever possible.

🍜 Food & Dietary Needs

Q: Are all the foods in Chengdu spicy? I’m not great with spicy food.

A: Chengdu is known for its spicy cuisine, but there are plenty of dishes that are either mild or not spicy at all. For example, you can try the clear soup version of wontons (Long Chao Shou)—the broth is flavorful, with delicate wonton wrappers and generous fillings. Another great choice is Old Mother Pig's Trotters in Soup. It has a rich, fragrant flavor, and the soup is hearty without being greasy. You can also enjoy Sweet Noodles, which have a slight spiciness, but you can ask for less chili if you prefer. Plus, dishes like Boiled Dumplings in Chili Sauce (Zhong Shui Jiao) and Dan Dan Noodles can be made milder on request.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family & Special Travelers

Q1: Is Chengdu suitable for families with children or babies?

A1: Yes, Chengdu can be family-friendly. If you are traveling with babies or young children, please inform us of their ages in advance. Baby seats can be arranged upon request with an additional charge. We will also assess your planned attractions to ensure they are suitable for children and adjust the itinerary if needed.

Q2: Can elderly travelers join the tours?

A2: Yes. If your group includes elderly travelers, please let us know their ages and physical condition in advance. Based on the destinations you wish to visit, we will evaluate suitability and design a slower-paced itinerary with fewer stairs and more rest time when appropriate.

👕Daily life-related

Q: I'm planning to visit Chengdu in the summer. How can I wash my clothes?

A: Many hotels in Chengdu are equipped with washing machines or offer self-service laundry facilities. You can ask the front desk for directions to the laundry room and how to use it. Typically, you'll need to buy laundry tokens or use your room key card to start the machines. Most laundry rooms provide washing powder or detergent, and the washing machines usually have easy-to-follow instructions for selecting the appropriate wash cycle (like quick wash, standard wash, etc.). This makes it convenient for you to clean your clothes during your stay!
